Abstract

The distribution of pineapple in general grew very rapidly in Indonesia, especially on
the Island of Java. The knowledge and use of the results in several production centers is still
minimal, so it was necessary to carry out an inventory and characterization of pineapple plants.
This study aimed to determine the location of production centers along with the characters
contained in a pineapple variety and the utilization of production. Information about this
existence of this pineapple plant can be done by inventorying activities. The next stage is
identification activities. Identification is a characterization activity on a plant. This
characterization activity includes identification based on morphological and agronomic
characters. Observational data is tabulate and display in the form of tables along with explain
descriptive. The results showed that the largest fruit producers were found in four districts on
the island of java. Pineapple plants were found to be cultivated intensively from nursery,
planting, maintenance, harvesting, and post harvest. Pineapple plants cultivated in Subang
Regency are Subang Pineapple, Bogor Regency are Gati Pineapple and Kapas Pineapple,
Pemalang Regency are Madu Pineapple, and Kediri Regency are Madu Pineapple and Pasir
Kelud 1 Pineapple. Based on characteristics results, the Subang Pineapple Pasir Kelud 1 were
categorized as Cayenne Varieties with the characteristics of large fruit, sweet and sour taste,
lots of water, wide eyes, and thornless leaves. Meanwhile, Gati Pineapple, Kapas Pineapple,
Pemalang Madu Pineapple, and Kediri Madu Pineapple are categorized as Queen Varieties
with the characteristics of small fruit, sweet taste, little water, prominent eyes, and thorny
leaves. Besides being sold and consumed in fresh from, pineapple also has the potential to bee
developed as processed ingredients such as pineapple chips, sweets, diamonds, and lunkhead.
