Efektivitas Penerapan Pendekatan Deep Learning untuk Meningkatkan Hasil Belajar Kognitif Peserta Didik pada Pembelajaran IPA Kelas VIII SMP Pandanaran Plupuh

Abstract:. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of implementing a deep learning approach in enhancing students’ cognitive learning outcomes in science subjects among eighth-grade students at Pandanaran Junior High School Plupuh. The research was motivated by the relatively low academic achievement observed in science learning, which has been largely influenced by the use of conventional teaching methods that provide limited opportunities for active student engagement. As an alternative, the deep learning approach was introduced, emphasizing meaningful learning, mindful learning, and joyful learning. The study employed a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental design, specifically the non-equivalent control group design. The participants consisted of eighth-grade students divided into two groups, namely the control class and the experimental class. Data were collected through a cognitive learning achievement test that had been validated through construct validation. The data were analyzed using an independent sample t-test on the gain scores, which yielded a significance value of 0.000. This result indicates a significant difference between the experimental and control groups. Therefore, it can be concluded that the application of the deep learning approach is effective in improving students’ cognitive learning outcomes in science learning at Pandanaran Junior High School Plupuh.
Abstrak: Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis efektivitas penerapan pendekatan deep learning dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik pada mata pelajaran IPA kelas VIII SMP Pandanaran Plupuh. Latar belakang penelitian ini berangkat dari rendahnya capaian hasil belajar siswa yang masih dipengaruhi oleh penggunaan metode konvensional yang kurang melibatkan peserta didik secara aktif. Sebagai alternatif, pendekatan deep learning diterapkan dengan menekankan pembelajaran bermakna (meaningful learning), pembelajaran sadar (mindful learning), serta pembelajaran yang menyenangkan (joyful learning). Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif dengan desain eksperimen semu (quasi experiment) tipe non-equivalent control group design. Subjek penelitian adalah siswa kelas VIII yang terbagi ke dalam dua kelompok, yaitu kelas kontrol dan kelas eksperimen. Data diperoleh melalui instrumen tes hasil belajar kognitif yang telah divalidasi secara konstruk. Analisis data menggunakan uji independent sample t-test terhadap gain score yang menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0,000, sehingga terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan antara kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Dengan demikian, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penerapan pendekatan deep learning terbukti efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar kognitif peserta didik pada pembelajaran IPA di SMP Pandanaran Plupuh.
