Analysis of Profile Discipline and Learning Motivation of Class VIII Students of Junior High School 03 Buay Sandang Aji State

Abstract: Discipline and motivation to learn is one of the basic aspects that encourage optimal learning outcomes. The purpose of this study was to determine the level of quality of discipline and student motivation that can affect learning outcomes. This research is a descriptive analysis using quantitative data. Data were obtained through test and non-test techniques which included tests of cognitive learning outcomes, observation sheets of discipline and learning motivation, and inclusive interviews. The research sample involved 60 grade VIII students of SMP Negeri 03 Buay Sandang Aji, Kab. OKU Selatan, South Sumatera. The results of the research test showed that student learning outcomes were relatively low with the percentage of students' N-Gain Scores ranging from the experimental class to a relatively moderate range of 53.08%. While the learning outcomes of students in the control class showed a score of around 47.64%. While the results of observations of discipline in learning science are relatively high with an average acquisition of around 75.00% in the high category and the level of student learning motivation is around 48.96% in the low category. The results of teacher and student interviews show difficulties in increasing discipline and learning motivation.
Abstrak: Sikap disiplin dan motivasi belajar adalah salah satu aspek dasar yang medorong hasil belajar yang optmal. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat kualitas kedisiplinan dan motivasi belajar siswa yang dapat mempengaruhi hasil belajar. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif analisis dengan menggunakan data kuantitatif. Data diperoleh melalui teknik tes dan non tes yang meliputi tes hasil belajar kognitif, lembar observasi kedisiplinan dan motivasi belajar, dan wawancara inklusif. Sample penelitian melibatkan 60 siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 03 Buay Sandang Aji, Kab. OKUS, Sumatera Selatan. Hasil tes penelitian menunjukkan hasil belajar siswa relatif rendah dengan persentase N-Gain Score siswa berkisar kelas eksperimen relatif sedang berkisar 53.08%. Sedangkan hasil belajar siswa pada kelas kontrol menunjukkan perolehan nilai berkisar 47.64%. Sedangkan hasil observasi sikap kedisiplinan dalam belajar IPA relatif tinggi dengan perolehan rerata berkisar 75.00% dengan kategori tinggi dan tingkat motivasi belajar siswa berkisar 48.96% dengan kategori rendah. Hasil wawancara guru dan siswa menunjukkan kesulitan dalam meningkatkan kedisiplinan dan motivasi belajar.
